The Man In My Life

Mom, are you going to get married again?

"I don't know. Maybe one day. Why do you ask?"

I want you to get married so you aren't alone when Gretel and I are at Dad's.

He worries too much. He gets that from me.
He's the Man of the House now and he's taking his role very seriously.
How lucky am I.

*hugs*

Sometimes the kids say things that are so sweet my heart just breaks.

What a sweet, simple thing to say. This must be so hard on them. Good for you for being strong and standing up for yourself, and setting a positive role model for your children (all 3 of them) on how a wife and mother deserves to be treated an respected by her husband. Even if it is painful for them now, they will benefit from seeing their mom in a positive and healthy relationship someday.

That is so sweet that he worries for you. I am not saying you do this but our BM unloads on SS since he is her "man of the house" and he is always worried about her bills getting paid ect. And he is only 11.

It's a difficult balance - talking to your kids, without telling them TOO much. I sure hope I don't unload on my Little Man.

Now that is just the sweetest darn thing in the world. You know, our kids know most of the time even without us telling them what's going on, they're perceptive like that. My oldest is the worrier of our bunch, always offering to help with things and asking if the monthly budget is big enough to splurge on a trip to the movies. Crazy kiddos ;)
